How do credits work?

Each membership level comes with an annual credit allocation, one credit for every $1,000 of membership. You spend credits on items from the Credit Menu, such as gameday hospitality, athlete appearances, coach speakers and media. Credits come off your balance when a booking is confirmed and UVA staff keeps you updated on how many credits you have left.

What carries over?

Credits run on the calendar year, January 1 through December 31. Up to 25% of your annual allocation carries into the next year and is used first. Any remaining credits expire on December 31 and cannot be refunded, transferred or exchanged for cash.

Is my company's membership tax-deductible?

A Cavalier Alliance Network membership is a marketing expense, not a charitable gift, so it is not treated as a donation to the University. Many companies account for it as a business marketing expense, but please confirm the treatment with your own tax advisor.

Can I buy stadium signage or other advertising options with my membership?

Yes. You can apply credits toward a Virginia Sports Properties media package, including radio, digital, and LED and concourse signage.

How is this program integrated with, or different from, Virginia Sports Properties?

Virginia Sports Properties remains the home for Virginia Athletics' signage, broadcast and sponsorship rights. The Cavalier Alliance Network adds hospitality, student-athlete engagement, coach speakers, recruiting events and a community of member companies. The two work together, so a member can direct credits into a VSP media package whenever advertising fits their goals.

How can our business use our credits to build marketing campaigns with UVA student-athletes?

Starting at the Director's Circle level, you can use credits for athlete appearances and multi-athlete campaigns, priced by the number of athletes, the deliverables and the length of the campaign. Our NIL team scopes each campaign with you, and every activation is agreed with the student-athlete and cleared by compliance. Participation by a specific athlete cannot be guaranteed, but we will work with you to find the right fit.

How far ahead should I allocate my credits?

The earlier the better. Gameday hospitality is usually booked months before the season, and head coach appearances need the most lead time because they are scheduled around coaching, recruiting, and academic calendars. UVA staff will help you map out the year when you join.

What happens in the first year?

After your agreement is signed, your credits load, your company is added to the member directory and you are introduced to your Cavalier Concierge. We start with a planning session to map your credits to your goals and book time-sensitive items first.
